To commemorate its 40th anniversary, SK Telecom released <Back to the 2004> on its YouTube channel, a pleasant web drama in a time-slip format that unravels the changes from telecommunications to AI. Starting with the prologue on May 10th and the first episode on the 17th, episodes will be uploaded sequentially until the end of the year.

What if you could go back 20 years and change the past? <Btu-dur 2004>

Actor Lee Sang-jin as 'Jinsang' in <Btu-dur 2004>

As the title suggests, <Back to the 2004> is a web drama in the 'regression' format, a popular theme in recent dramas. The 30-something protagonist 'Jin-sang' returns to 2004, his middle school days, through the power of the smart A. (A-dot). Middle schooler 'Jin-sang' changes the past and future with the help of SKT's AI technologies and services, such as the AI personal assistant A. (A-dot) and the pet AI diagnostic assistance service X Caliber.

Nostalgic items and episodes that bring back 2004

As a regression piece, <Back to the 2004> is full of nostalgic items and episodes that remind one of those days in 2004. Nostalgic items and places that bring back memories of school days for the MZ generation, such as Cyworld, Nate, feature phones, Be the Reds T-shirts, and Canmore, are featured with realistic historical verification, and episodes with characters around the protagonist deal with familiar stories that all ages can relate to.

Through SKT's AI products/services melted into various episodes experienced by the protagonist 'Jin-sang,' SKT will naturally showcase its 'transition into an AI company' and convey that the products/services of 20 years ago served as nourishment for moving toward an AI company. The role of the protagonist 'Jin-sang' is played by rookie actor Lee Sang-jin, who has caught the attention of viewers with his presence-filled acting in recent works such as 'New Recruit' and 'Boyhood.'

Protagonist 'Jinsang' returns to 2004 with A.dot's powers.

The first episode, in which the protagonist 'Jin-sang' returns from 2024 to his prime in 2004, was released on May 17th. He suddenly regresses 20 years and goes through trials and errors, but shows himself adapting. <Back to the 2004> will be uploaded until the end of the year with a total of 20 episodes.

Park Kyu-hyun, Vice President of Digital Comm at SK Telecom, said, 'On the 40th anniversary of our founding, we wanted to gain the sympathy of many people with digital content that conveys the history of SKT from telecommunications to AI,' and added, 'In the future, we will continue to conduct various campaign activities to deliver the meaning of SKT technology to customers and communicate with them using digital channels.'
